Make a Difference Day

The Make a Difference Day is the largest volunteer service day in the United States and other countries. The event is held on the fourth Saturday of October with the purpose of celebrating a national day to help others.
Popular, Inc. joined Make a Difference Day in 2003 as part of our corporate value of social commitment. The purpose of this day is to promote volunteer service in Popular, Inc., to unite employees and their families and increase the presence of the Corporation in the communities it serves.
Annually about 2,000 Popular employees and their families coordinate and work in projects that impact thousands of people. Examples of volunteer projects range from garbage collection, visiting the sick or elderly, structural improvements, clothing drives, or any activity that is intended to make a difference in the lives of others.

Share Your Christmas
In Popular, it is tradition to share Christmas with the people of Puerto Rico through this event, which we have been celebrating for over 30 years. Share your Christmas is an activity that brings joy, fun and holiday spirit to children, the elderly, sick, homeless and all of those who need company.
Every year hundreds of Popular employees come together for this celebration.

Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event offers an opportunity to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer and remember those who lost the battle against this disease.
In 2010 a total of 1,000 Popular employees and their families participated in seven relays including the final closing event in San Juan and managed to raise $ 35,000 for the organization.
